Reflections on Lake Brandt – Wind in the Water

In two movements, it was inspired by the beautiful reservoir just north of my former school, the Greensboro Day school. Lake Brandt is one in a series of several lakes that supply water for Greensboro, NC. All are protected and surrounded by wonderful trails with beautiful views. The lake is not far from the school, and I often visited and walked the trails around this beautiful lake as a retreat from the hustle and bustle of school life.

“Wind in the Water” is a tonal poem inspired by the view, as the water responds and becomes a kind of mirror of the wind. Written for four cellos, suitable or mature players, high school to adult. Meant to be played first before Steps on the Land, I recommend you buy both.
